Design Your Dorm

Overview

DesignYourDorm.com (DYD) is a webbased 3-D interior design site that allows college students to customize their dorm room interiors and purchase their favorite room selections online. Launched by a pair of recent University of Arizona graduates in Oct. 2008, DYD had logged less than 1,000 unique visitors to the site before they contacted Smarter in May 2009.

Results

Before the implementation of Smarter’s comprehensive, yet focused strategy, DYD averaged less than 500 visitors a month. Since then, that number has increased 11,380% as the site garnered 196,210 visitors in the four-month period of the campaign.

On top of visitors, heightened awareness of the site, even among those that didn’t visit it, helped accrue credibility and familiarity. Smarter reached influencers in target demographics, successfully establishing an organic word of mouth campaign that extended beyond direct promotion.

Most importantly, Smarter laid the foundation for DYD’s next long-term goal: creating an active online community, by bringing in over 50,000 registered users to DYD.
